About the Art

The following art represents my struggles and understanding of traditional Jewish liturgy. I have used most of these pieces in my Capstone: תפילת אומנות (The Prayer of Art).

In the spirit of Hiddur Mitzvah (the mitzvah where we are commanded to beautify our world), I have decided to use a traditional Reform Kabbalat Shabbat service and Shachrait Service as my inspiration. I have used color and light to show the emotion that each prayer envokes for me. Additionally, I have incorporated Hebrew calligraphy into many of the pieces to bring in artistic flair, as well as to tie the piece into the liturgy.
